Schools and Community groups

We have a variety of different activities to offer primary and secondary schools, early years settings and community groups of all ages, and offer discounts to charitable groups and non-profit organisations who need it.

Forest School

Our regular weekly Forest School sessions are wonderful experiences for everyone, and are bespoke to every school we work with.  The children and young people lead the way into exploration, experimentation and creation.

There is no technology other than the most basic hand tools and activities which really get back to the basics. We experiment safely here, take supported risks and there is no final goal to achieve, just lots of experiences which gradually build self confidence, resilience, independence and creativity.

Learning is gained through experiencing a variety of activities which can be applied back in the wider world. Through this contact with nature and each other, we begin to understand about how we can affect our own precious environment. We learn to start taking responsibility for the people and places around us. Most of all we remember how to play, how to go with the flow and have fun!

Our Forest School leaders are trained to observe the children as individuals and to appreciate individual learning styles. This enables them to facilitate further learning and progression through provision of appropriate support.

Wildcraft Sessions - Primary Schools

We run bespoke, woodland half day and full day experiences aimed at primary school class groups, to provide a rewarding, challenging and enjoyable alternative for extra-curricular enrichment, or something different to offer for the annual class trip.

The children are given the exciting task of surviving a day in the wild! Activities they might do could involve making fire by friction, cooking simple food over the fire, orienteering, wide games, learning about using hand tools to create green wood craft items, shelter building, wild awareness and foraging for wild food.

Activities can be themed to support the curriculum.

We can also offer adventure activities provided by Frylands Wood Scout Centre alongside our Wildcraft sessions, such as archery and climbing.

All sessions are facilitated with a Forest School Inspired, child led approach.
